Jezerinac Group served as Engineer of Record for the campus expansion at South Fork High School in Martin County, FL.
The project consisted of the structural design of a new 48,000 SF gymnasium and locker room building, 6,000 SF central energy plant, and sports fields buildings improvements.
All structures were designed to be the hurricane force wind pressures of the Florida Building Code as a risk category III facility. The gymnasium and locker room building house a 25,000 SF, 35 FT tall- basketball gym, 16,000 SF of locker rooms, and 7,000 SF of weight training and wrestling rooms.
The building structure is comprised of exterior load bearing CMU walls with interior structural steel framing. Steel trusses span 135 FT across the gymnasium create a column free space for the sports court and bleachers. The central energy plant houses new chiller units that provide air conditioning to the entire campus. The sports fields buildings such as dugouts and concession standings were replaced with new buildings as well.
Jezerinac Group worked and coordinated closely with the design team and Martin County School District to design the project with-in the program and budgetary requirements. The project was completed with our client Song + Associates, Inc.
