Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC)

Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC)

THE PROJECT:  The Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC) has a famous history, serving as the former international R&D facility of IBM in the 1970s. This is where the personal computer was literally invented. CP Group, formerly Crocker Partners, acquired BRiC in 2018 with plans to evolve the campus into the premier technology and life sciences hub in the Southeast.

This specific project called for the renovation of existing structures to include an “amenities corridor,” connecting tenants from one building to another. The original campus, designed by accomplished architect Marcel Breuer, required any renovations to follow strict municipal regulations for historic architecture.

OUR SOLUTION: Our Structural Design experts were engaged to thoughtfully plan the demolition of two existing structural bays, making way for a new service vehicle and tenant entrance. We then designed a new steel-framed structure to span approximately 100 feet over the newly created entry-way and protect tenants as they walk between buildings and exit their vehicles. The resulting corridor creates a modern and functional solution, significantly improving usability and overall tenant experience.
